OSB Projects

One Million Trees Project

Join us on Saturday, March 2, 2013

Bar members will volunteer for one of three separate planting projects, each taking place on Saturday, March 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Friends of Trees will provide gloves, tools, and trained volunteer guidance — as well as coffee, tea, hot chocolate and breakfast snacks. Please plan to meet by 8:45 a.m. at the staging site (look for the Friends of Trees signs) to register and be assigned a planting crew. No experience is necessary. Friends of Trees asks only that all volunteers dress for the weather, wear boots or sturdy shoes, and come prepared to have fun!

To volunteer please send an email to events@osbar.org with the subject line “trees.” Please include your name, bar number, a phone number where we can reach you, and which of the three scheduled events you prefer.

The projects are:

Portland Neighborhood Tree Planting
Join us as we plant more than 200 neighborhood trees in the Mt. Tabor/
Montavilla neighborhoods. The staging area will be at Multnomah University, 8435 NE Glisan St. in NE Portland [map]. There will be one or two crews entirely powered by bicycle. If you’d like to join these bike crews please fill out this form. Max capacity: 40 volunteers

Clatsop Butte Natural Area Tree Planting
Come plant native trees and shrubs to help restore the Johnson Creek Watershed’s native habitats, increase water quality and reduce the amount of stormwater entering the creek. The natural area is at SE Evergreen Drive & SE 152nd Avenue in Southeast Portland [map]. Max capacity: 40 volunteers

Eugene/Springfield Area Tree Planting
Join us to plant neighborhood trees in Springfield! We’ll be meeting in the east parking lot of the Willamalane Park Swim Center: 1276 G St. in Springfield, OR 97477 [map]. Max capacity: 20 volunteers

If you would like to participate but are unavailable on March 2 you can volunteer for other projects on your own through Friends of Trees: www.friendsoftrees.org. If you volunteer on your own please let us know so we can add your hours to our OSB member total.
